President Dr. Joyce Banda, to keynote GC4W’s International Women’s Day gala

Global Connections for Women Foundation (GC4W), the international non-profit organization dedicated to connecting, educating, and empowering women and young girls around the globe has announced that Africa’s second woman President and Former President of Malawi, Dr. Joyce Banda, will deliver a keynote address at their International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration event at 6 p.m. EST, on Saturday, March 7 at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC.

Banda will focus her address on the importance of investing in young girls and women and “Connecting for Women Empowerment,” the GC4W theme for this year’s red carpet celebration. Former Victoria Secret model and Tech CEO, Amy Hixson, and Arise Entertainment 360 National TV host and National TV Correspondent for Black Enterprise, Shannon LaNier, will host the celebration.

Also appearing alongside Banda, Hixson, and LaNier will be J. Skyler Fernandes, managing director of Simon Venture Group. Fernandes will join representatives from Intel, to receive GC4W’s first ever “Corporate Contribution & Leadership Awards,” awarded to two companies who have excelled in their commitment to women empowerment.

“There is no more perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day in a big way than with a keynote address from Honorable Dr. Banda, a woman who has inspired so many around the globe,” said Lilian Ajayi, founder and executive director, Global Connections for Women Foundation. “We are excited to hear Banda challenge women and girls to push boldly for empowerment and equality around the world.”

GC4W’s 2015 IWD gala and awards benefit will also recognize and reward global women champions, who are among the most respected voices on women’s issues around the world. These women will join other GC4W hall of fame awardees from previous IWD celebrations, such as Jenna Fernandes, Denise Ajayi-Williams, Amy Hixon, Teresa Clarke, Chief Temitope Ajayi, and the Honorable U. Joy Ogwu, to name a few.

GC4W’s 2015 IWD Gala & Awards celebration will provide guests with an exciting opportunity to celebrate women’s empowerment around the world.  Therefore, on Sat. Mar. 7, join us alongside GC4W and their team of sponsors and supporters at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, for an evening of inspiration and networking. We hope to see you there!  Tweet us @muipr and let us know if you will be joining us.
